Hungry Valley SVRA Offroad Recreation Area

This off road area is California’s second largest off-road vehicular recreation area, has hills and valleys, grassland, coastal sage scrub and oak woodland. The park is a motorcycle, four-wheel drive, and all-terrain vehicle use area. There are about 130 miles of marked trails for all levels of off-highway vehicle (OHV) operators and hikers, from flat and level trails to steep and narrow. Also, over 150 miles of National Forest off-road routes available. – www.parks.ca.gov

General Information:
State Vehicular Recreation Are, plenty of marked trails for all riding experience, with one way trails and even a practice areas for 4×4 vehicles, motocross track, and mini-track. Not too hot in the summertime as we went in mid July 2006 and it was in the high 80s during the day and with a nice breeze. most the trails are marked and maps are provided at the main entrance 5 dollars for day use and 10 dollars for overnight camping. Elevation ranges from 2,600 feet to near 8,000 feet and winter temperatures can fall as low as 20 degrees with summer temperatures in the low 100s. There are a lot of open trails as well as many one way and marked trails showing the degree of difficulty as well as the type of vehicle the trail is designed for, there are many staging areas with loading docks, covered picnic tables and pit toilets.
